In the second version ( Branagh ) , the beginning was very dramatic and dim. He used alot of fog and darkness to give this scene a ghostly feeling since Hamlet was talking to his father which was a ghost. The part where Hamlet was running through the forest he was singing very loud in an opera way . The way he was feeling was showed in that scene by the gound being lit up with fire and explosions.
In the first version ( Zeffirelli ) , the beginning was not really that dramatic , but the message that was shown was very clear. I think Mel Gibson played this role very well because he shows more expression and passion when he see's his ghostly father. The ghost in this version was more sad about his death than in the other versions.
In the third version ( Almereyda ) ,this version is a modern version of Hamlet. The ghost scene is not the same as the first and second verson. In this version the ghost scene is more filled with light and is not as dramatic. Hamlet has more physical contact with his father in this version , meanng he is touching him more like he is really there. And in this scene the ghost uses a prop to show how he really died.
I like the fact that the beginning was drmatic and dark in Branagh's version. I agree that Gibson plays Hamlet well and shows sadness about his father's death in this version. In the modern version, I feel like it was a lot less dramatic. Nothing really happened, it was more calm and laid back.
